This four foot square mosaic was completed in six months at the after school art club. The children aged between 7 and 11 drew out their ideas for the design and artist Penny Robson transferred these onto the wood. Each class in the school is named after a tree so the children incorporated leaves into their picture. The maple is the main motif for Canada Hill. The children decided on the colours and selected the tiles they felt were most appropriate for the mosaic as they went along.

The mosaic has been hung at the entrance to the school. The children in the art club really enjoyed making this mosaic so they are now working on a mosaic mermaid and fish for a recycling exhibition.
