Description

We have recently transformed our school garden. Each class has a growing box and we even have an outdoor classroom area. However, there was a need for more colour and examples of children’s work. Thanks to the grant received from Topps Tiles, I decided to start a project which every child could help get involved in.

My class decided that bugs would be the theme for injecting colour into the garden all year round! Each class was instructed to draw a large, bright and colourful bug. We then used mesh to cover the drawings and invited the children to add the tiles and stones onto their mosaic, rotating which children came each time. We have completed six bugs in 2 months, with a centipede, caterpillar and more still to come!

All children have been involved from Nursery to Primary 7. The nursery and infant bugs have been put on the wall next to their sensory garden. The other bugs are scattered all around the garden and playgrounds to be found and loved by all the children.
