Description

This mosaic was commissioned to celebrate the Centenary of the school. The design by the artist is of a map of the local area and the border was made up of drawings by each of the 270 children in the school – 9 classes from Reception to year 2 – which had been reduced, made into transfers and fired onto the tiles. The images were Portraits (Reception) Letters from own language (year 1) and Values (year 2) – as well as other elements that were included in the map and we included gold tiles and millifiore in the piece.

The body of the mosaic was completed in a week at the school with contributions from all the children and staff. It was unveiled at their Centenary celebration on Saturday July 13th 2013 and installed in the foyer.
