About the artist:
I am a passionate and experienced Community Mosaic Artist working with schools (over 180) to create a range of mosaic projects for their school environment. I believe the best school art is created by the children/students and I am there to direct and assist them in creating mosaics through the stages of design, the actual mosaicing and finally grouting.

Each project can be inside or outside, floor or wall based and can be created by a class, a year or the whole school. Every child can then say, “I helped to make that,” and this can then be used to help improve self esteem, motivation, and everyone gets to have fun!!.

Examples of possible projects are shown below with photos and more examples on my website of www.mosaic-madness.co.uk.

  • Wall murals. These can be in many different themes and sizes and be tied in with any aspect of the National Curriculum. See attached photos.
  • Floor murals. Using a range of precast concrete paving slabs to create a floor mural or path. See attached photos
  • Columns. Using chimney pots or drains to create a piece of free standing mosaic art.
  • Teacher training. As part of the project a member of staff can be allocated to the project allowing me to teach them the basics which can be used to run an after school mosaic club or future mosaic projects.
  • Crosses or Crucifixes: Can be upto 1.8m high based on a current design or something the children come up with themselves
  • Gift items: These are usually mosaic foam tile picture frames or mirrors using mosaic glass tiles.
