Description

Visual artist Jane Gordon, Head teacher Viv Earwicker and Art coordinator Ruth Hodge and site manager Tony were joined by many very enthusiastic, creative and dedicated children and their families and other members of staff from the school. Together they used some gorgeous mosaic tiles very kindly donated by Topps Tiles in Brighton, along with sparkly beads, buttons, colourful broken tiles and many more mosaic tiles donated by families and members of the local community. The site for the mosaic was an outside courtyard, with brick walls. It was decided to make a beautiful flower garden with a spring feel that would last all year round. Children designed flowers and drew them straight onto the brick walls. Flowers grew and insects too. It was an incredibly busy day and from 10am until 3pm it was impossible to see the walls for the amount of people working so hard decorating them. When the crowds dispersed, The year round garden was revealed, and it is truly inspiring.

Now they hope that all visitors will touch and feel the walls, talk about which bit they helped to create and smile whenever arriving at school.

There was much hard work, fun and laughter on the day, thank are due to Topps Tiles and all the families who so kindly donated tiles.
